Complimentary shuttle bus service will be provided between the hotels and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC). Access to the Westin Boston Waterfront is via a connecting skybridge on Level 2 of the BCEC. Boarding and disembarking of ALL shuttles will be on the east side, Level 0, of the BCEC.

Boston, “America’s Walking City,” offers an extensive transportation system to help you navigate your stay during the AFSCME 43rd International Convention.

Boston’s public transportation system is operated by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, but is simply known as the “T.” It offers subway, bus, trolley car and boat service to just about everywhere in the Greater Boston area and beyond. Subway stops are color coded — Red Line, Green Line, Blue Line, Orange Line or Silver Line. Riders can travel anywhere on the T system for $2.65 per trip and kids 11 years and younger ride free. To ride the T, you will need to purchase a CharlieCard or Charlie Ticket, which is available at every subway station at vending machines. AFSCME Convention hotels are all located near subway stations on the Orange and Green lines. The closest T stop to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is the World Trade Center Station, at the corner of Congress Street and World Trade Center Avenue. The BCEC, 415 Summer Street, is a 5-minute walk along World Trade Center Avenue, which ends directly in front of the BCEC.

The Silver Line, serving the World Trade Center Station, is a rapid bus system that uses dedicated bus-only travel lanes. The Silver Line also goes to Logan Airport and delegates can use it from the BCEC to get to the airport on Friday when the Convention adjourns.

Boston taxis are available at Logan terminals 24 hours a day and provide service to all of New England. All areas within a 12-mile radius of downtown Boston are charged a metered rate. Beyond the 12-mile radius the charge is a flat rate. All fares are based upon the occupancy of one to four passengers per taxi. Station wagons, accessible taxis for passengers with physical disabilities, and credit card taxis are available upon request at Logan Airport. For further assistance, contact a Massport Ground Transportation agent, located outside of each terminal on the arrivals level. From Logan International Airport to most hotels in Boston and Cambridge, current fares are approximately $25-$35, one way.
