Leaders at AFSCME affiliates across the country will benefit greatly from two financial workshops that will be offered again Thursday at the AFSCME 43rd International Convention in addition to the Rise Up Institute courses.
They were first offered on Sunday.
At the “AFSCME Financial Standards Code” workshop, taught by AFSCME International staff, affiliate officers, executive board members and trustees will learn how to run a tight financial ship and receive a thorough understanding of the AFSCME Financial Standards Code.
You will learn key skills like the best ways to maintain financial records and how to authorize or document expenditures, financial reports and other required financial filings for AFSCME and the Internal Revenue Service.
The “Affiliate Budgeting in Challenging Times” workshop, taught by an outside auditor, shows participants how to weather a challenge to their affiliate’s finances and budgets. Attendees will gain a solid overview of the unique points for consideration when confronting financial challenges and learn what steps and actions to take to keep their financial houses in order.
